Like Levis and Lee, the Wrangler jeans company has it’s roots in providing work wear to American men in the early 1900s. Wrangler sets itself apart by developing its first line of denim trousers specifically tailored to withstand the abuse of cowboys in 1946. The result is a long association between Wrangler jeans and the great American rodeo scene – and, the Wrangler 13MWZ, initially launched in 1947, is still available in stores around the world today.
Though it’s fair to say Wrangler jeans are more popular with men, there is an extensive collection of Wrangler jeans for women. Popular women’s styles for this year from Wrangler include the slim-leg Lia, the slack and slim fitting Wynona and the Sofia straight-legged hip-huggers. Other, more traditional Wrangler women’s offerings include the Western Wear Collection in Low, Classic and Slim fits, as well as the Madison Stretch bootcut and Ayden premium jeans.
Wrangler jeans for men are plentiful. From the straight-leg button fly Sly to the low-waist bootcut Dayton, Wranger jeans for men are functional, as well as fashionable. The majority of styles are available in a variety of washes and colours to suit most tastes and styles. The beauty of most Wrangler styles is that you can dress them up or down, depending on whether you’re headed to the office or the pub. For example, the low-waisted, slim-fitting Spencer is a great men’s jean for dressing up, but they go just as well with a t-shirt as they do with a button-down office shirt. Other men’s jeans by Wrangler are better suited to casual functions, like the Floyd – a straight, extra-low-rise button fly trouser with exquisite pocket detailing – however, even these more casual jeans can smarten up for a day at work or a night on the town.
